What is hidden in the shadows is often not meant for others to see. Many things happen in the cover of darkness. Terrible things happen in darkened places. Things people don’t want to talk about. Living in fear of exposure. Yearning to do whats right but every turn is just another dark corner. We all need the Light.
As I went on a walk today I noticed these bushes along the path which were hidden by shade. It was really cool to see how many vines from these bushes were stretched out seeking the sunlight. They were more vibrant than the ones hidden in the shadows. Their leaves pointed toward the sky in order to get the fullness of the light.
It looked almost as if they were stretched far beyond what they thought possible. Like perhaps they had been trying since sunrise just to get into the sunshine. I felt like they had an inner drive to reach into the path of light so they could bask in its presence.
Oh if only we too could experience this! To be drawn from somewhere deep within to the sunshine. To begin to do what is necessary from the moment of daybreak where new mercies can be found. To awaken from the darkness of slumber to reach out as far as necessary to be in His presence.
To be able to shake off the shadows of yesterday. To fully imbrace newness of life. To extend our soul to bask in His presence where healing and restoration can be found. The very place where everthing evil is exposed. A place where we are encompassed with the warmth of His love and grace.
Oh if I could have taken the place of one of those vines today. To feel the warmth. To experience the vastness of His love. To just be held by the One who envelopes my heart.
