Not My Glory

“However, let him who boasts and glories boast and glory in the Lord. For [it is] not [the man] who praises and commends himself who is approved and accepted, but [it is the person] whom the Lord accredits and commends.” 2 Corinthians 10:17-18 AMP

Ever thought you spoke something so great it was all yours and not for sharing?  How about, got so caught up in your own pride, God wasn’t there any more?  What about worship, the days when you feel you got nothing out of it when really it was for God?  Pride is an ugly snake in our midst.  We can do nothing apart from God and if we are following Him, then we cannot have self-pride.  There is no limit for sure what God can do in our lives and therefore, all we do should be to further the Kingdom and ALL glory should be showered upon our Creator, the reason we can do anything.  It is very difficult I will admit to be humble and not fall into the trap of pride, Satan is good at leading us to that pit and trying to make us fall into it.  It is up to us as Christians to guard our hearts and keep our focus upon what this life is really all about, Glorifying God.

To prevent myself from being prideful and pushy about what I am doing for God, I daily need to lay it down at the cross.  I can NEVER pick  my writing or photography up and say “MINE!  ALL MINE!” because the moment I do that I begin to step out of the realm of grace God has given me and it opens the door for greed to seep in.  If I make it as an author, I know in my heart of hearts it is because God created my a testimony and He is using me to help others.  It’s not because I suffered and deserve to be paid for sharing what God has done in my life.  If God choose to bless me through my writing then so be it, but I don’t want a dime if it will make me prideful or distract me from my purpose as a servant of the King.

God deserves all of the honor and praise in everything we do right down to that perfect shot we get of one of His creatures or the best Facebook status quote.  He deserves all of the glory for the things which happen in our lives.  He is the God of this universe and if we call Him Creator then He is also the Maker of everything we see and feel in this world.  So I encourage you today to let go of any pride you are holding onto and lay it at the cross never to pick it up again.  Yes you  may have to daily remind yourself to leave it there when compliments start rolling in about the work you do for the Kingdom.  Just daily repeat to yourself and those around you, “All for the Glory of God.  My work here is to glorify my Maker and that is all.  Touching hearts for Him in any way He sees fit.”
