What is Faith? It is defined in the dictionary as
complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
How many things or people do we have faith in besides God? Family members. Coworkers. Businesses. Governments. Our coffee makers. The cars we drive. To have faith is to believe all of these things will work for us in the appropriate manner and in the right time frame.
Why do we not trust God like we trust our watches? Is He not more accurate as the Creator of time itself?
In todays world we put our trust in so many things yet tomorrow it could all change. We need to learn how to walk out faith rather than just posses it. For instance we can know the principles of walking but if we never put it into action we won’t get anywhere.
We can fill ourselves up to the brim with scriptures and know what God can do for us but if we just keep it as head knowledge and never speak it into existence is just knowledge.
Walking by faith is an action. Often it’s a scary thing to do. So many times fear stops our words before they reach our tongues. What if I pray wrong? What if people think I’m crazy? What if I fail?
What if we serve a God who is much bigger than all of the what ifs?
Faith comes from a place of trust. If we believe in the truth of the Bible we must at some point trust it. We must cross over the bridge from knowing the Word of God to the point of complete trust that God will do what it says. The enemy comes from all angles to try to derail us. We must know what the Word says about combating the lies and then speak it and walk through it.
Take for instance this verse:
And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
If we believe the Word of God to be true then we need to trust that we will have peace when anxiety rears its ugly head. We should take a walk of faith and profess with our tongues that God has given us a peace that surpasses ALL understanding.
When we are afraid we need to pull that truth out of the vault in our head knowledge and speak it out loud until the anxiety flees!! Be bold! Be confident in the faith bottled up on the inside of you.
I fully believe once you trust His Word and begin to walk by faith you will walk right through that anxiety as if it was mere vapor. The moment you begin to confess with your tongue the truth of the Bible your enemies will scatter.
Amen: I completely agree.
