Those who think they can do it on their own end up obsessed with measuring their own moral muscle but never get around to exercising it in real life. Those who trust God’s action in them find that God’s Spirit is in them—living and breathing God! Obsession with self in these matters is a dead end; attention to God leads us out into the open, into a spacious, free life. Focusing on the self is the opposite of focusing on God. Anyone completely absorbed in self ignores God, ends up thinking more about self than God. That person ignores who God is and what he is doing. And God isn’t pleased at being ignored.
Who are you? Whoooo Are You? Whoooooo Are Yoooooou? WHO ARE YOU??? Remember that scene in Alice in Wonderland with the caterpillar? How would you respond? Are you who you are meant to be or are you someone else? Are you living a fairy tale life or a real one?
We are born. We are shaped by circumstances and people while we are young. Around the age of twelve we begin to think for ourselves, but at this point do we even have any idea of who we should be?
I was at church one day and during worship God showed me the flowers up front on the altar and began to describe them to me as He see us. The center represents God Himself. It is His desire that we center our lives around Him. Just like in Genesis with Adam and Eve, God spent time with them in the garden. He was their center, the place they gained everything they needed to know.
Next He showed me the white part. This represented Jesus and how when we come to know Christ as our savior we are cleansed of sin and made white as snow. We are a new creation in Christ. We have been reset. The old had been removed.
Then He showed me the vibrant color. This is meant for us. This is what we look like to God when we are following His will for our life and become a living testimony to His goodness. This vibrant , living color attracts others and spreads the good news of Jesus. (Think about the new Christian as the butterfly…they are attracted to the flowers!)
How amazing is our God that He would spend the time to show me this little tidbit of love? So who are you? Is God the center of you? Have you accepted the cleansing? Are you showing your true colors to those around you? If the answer is no to any of these questions then I encourage you to spend some time with God exploring how to turn these answers into YES!!
