Not Like Yesterday

Lamentations 3:22-23 NLT

22 The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
    His mercies never cease.
23 Great is his faithfulness;
    his mercies begin afresh each morning.

It’s a new day!!  A fresh start! A new beginning! A chance to do things differently! So why can I not get my thoughts off of yesterday’s train? How is it that somehow it looks just the same? When will the revelation come on it being a brand-new day?

So often, we have difficulty moving into new mercy because we have the expectation that things will never change. We keep doing the same things over and over again, hoping for a different result. Why have we not figured out this does not work? I think perhaps we have to think differently.  We need new revelation and perspectives. However,  more importly, we need to break the old thinking habits.

We need to learn to rely on the Lord and trust His plan. Sounds easy, but I know from experience it is not. Since the majority of the time I rely on my first thoughts instead of asking the Lord, I often dive head first into an empty swimming pool only to find my self asking to nobody, ” Why did I not ask the Lord what to do before I jumped?”

If only there was an answer to this wayward thinking….oh wait! There is! His Word! Proverbs 3:5-6 says it plainly.

Proverbs 3:5-6 TPT
[5] Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on him to guide you, and he will lead you in every decision you make. [6] Become intimate with him in whatever you do, and he will lead you wherever you go.

TRUST.

RELY.

INTIMACY.

Three simple words to break the cycle.

The magic to new mercy isn’t magic at all. It is simple trust. It’s beginning to believe that no matter what happens today, God is in control. It is relying on His wisdom, not what the world has taught us. Revelation comes when we stay in intimate relationship with the only one who knows fully the plan for our lives.

Here is the simple truth, stay in an intimate relationship with the Lord, do not trust your own thoughts, and rely FULLY on the guidance of the Lord, knowing He will lead you. Stay the course under the shadow of the Almighty’s wing and you will find yourself dwelling in safety.

You will begin to see yesterday for what it is , the past, and begin to look forward to receiving the new mercy awaiting you at the break of dawn.
